Not all spoils of victory are for the taking

“And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few. So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.” Joshua 7:3-4 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/jos.7.3-4.kjv

Not all spoils of victory are for the taking

Do you check the manual of the victories that God grants you? Yes... do you recognize the difference between the victory that you take the spoils and the ones that you should not? There are so many Bible promises to the children of God that they will take the spoil of the Gentiles... but not every spoil is meant for the taking. There are come victory that God grants you to prove his greatness but then requires you to walk away from the spoil because he is your sustenance. When the Israelites left Egypt, they came away with the spoils of Egypt as instructed of God. However, when they crossed into Canaan and crushed the walls of Jericho, they had been warned in the chapter preceding today’s reading not to take anything for themselves because Jericho had been accursed. But Achan disobeyed and his greed caused the great Isreal who had conquered the great Jericho to be defeated by the little Ai right after that victory. When David’s camp had been ransacked and his wife’s and all the others taken, he still stopped to ask God if he should pursue after them. Again... not very spoil of victory is for your taking. Always check with God so that you don’t pollute your victory-run with an act of indiscretion or ‘over-familiarity’ with God’s ways.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the victories that you have assured me. Help me Lord to hear your specific instructions for every battle of my life and give me the grace to obey so that I don’t take the accursed thing and lose my victory 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
