When a farmer goes out to plow his field and plants the seed, he doesn’t just go to sleep.... else he would have what some call a “Net effect - Zero”. He must ensure that there is watering of the seed, weeds are removed, even manure is provided to ensure a robust harvest... Sometimes we wonder at the efficacy of God’s words, the prophecies and testimonies we hear because somehow after doing something such as giving, praying, etc.., we still don’t get the reward. Like the farmer, we need to nurture our work by continuing in the truth and love of God. It is not uncommon to see individuals after leaving a service where a lot of blessings have been pronounced, to leave their spiritual bag of blessings of the floor so that they can tackle the insults that someone hurled at them. Trading their treasures for an opportunity to “Show who they are “ to the offender. Even when we don’t err and we indeed do all to stand, like the farmer who needs the rain to water the crop, we still need the grace of God - the unmerited favor that makes room in unexpected places. We also need his mercy to prevail in the place of judgement and a peace that makes us calm regardless of the storms going on around us. The pre-requisite though, is that we continue to seek his truth in his word and dwell in Love - obeying his commandments. *The rewards will surely come*. So the next time you take the benediction after a service .“... May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ... the Love of God and the Fellowship of the Holyspirit be with me now and forever”.. think of the potential that the combination unlocks for you...
