Pay your vows

“And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake? And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.” 2 Samuel 9:1, 7 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/2sa.9.1-7.kjv

Pay your vows

And the promise was fulfilled. So many years later after David promised Jonathan that he will show kindness to his offspring because of the love that Jonathan had shown to David in his time of distress (1 Sam 20:17-18), David fulfilled that promise in the Bible reading today. He did not wait for the family of Jonathan to come to seek him. He went looking for anyone in the family to repay the kindness. Often as humans we tend to have short memories and are quick to forget the vows and promises that we make to God and others around us when we were in trouble. God acknowledged this fact when he warned the Isrealites in Deuteronomy 8 telling them not to forget the Lord that brought them through the wilderness when they have now become comfortable in the land that he was going to give them. So question today is: What are those vows and commitments that you made to God when seeking his deliverance desperately? Have you kept them? Are you still keeping them? Or are you rationalizing them? Saying if opportunity arises when you know that you should be actively seeking out the opportunity. Search your heart today and repent quickly of any default like the warning to the church in Ephesus in Revelations 2:5
