Protect your seed

“And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.” Luke 8:6-7, 13-14 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/luk.8.6-14.kjv

Protect your seed

There is a process between the seed of the promise and the fruits of the promise. The right environment and nurturing is required for the process to result in positive outcomes. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus gives a parable about a sower that spread his seeds abroad and there were 4 different scenarios. In the excerpted text, we focused on two of those scenarios and the associated explanations. In one case, the environment had no depth to provide the moisture that the seed needed to survive, in the rocky environment.  The slightest temptation kills the seed of the promise. In another instance, there isn’t enough breathing room for the seed, as it is choked out by the distractions of life, the thorns that take up space without yielding any significant fruits. Every word and promise that God gives us as his children must be guarded and nurtured into the maturing that is required to become the plant or tree that then yields the multiplier fruits.  Is God’s promise to you appearing to be stunted? Then first check to be sure that first the seed is still there and hasn’t been crushed by a lack of root. Also check that you are not choking it out of existence by accommodating distractions that is not allowing you to nurture it in prayer, study and actual works. These scenarios often make it feel like there was never a promise, but recall that God is faithful who has promised. The question is: What are you doing with your seeds?

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are the father of light in whom there is no variance or shadow of turning. I come before you today asking that you open my eyes to see any aspects of my life where I am not providing the right nurturing environment for your seeds in my life. In every aspect where I may have choked out the seed, please let your mercy prevail and grant me a second chance in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
