Recognize God

“Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood. Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.” Isaiah 10:15-16 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/isa.10.15-16.kjv

Recognize God

The Bible tells us to humble ourselves under the mighty hands of the Lord and in due time he will lift us up. It is important to always recognize God as the source of the blessings that he has given us. The Bible reading today is a response to the fact that the king of Assyria was boasting of his abilities to conquer Israel whereas God permitted him in his anger to deal with them. God asks questions such as is it possible for the axe to cut by itself or the saw to lift itself more than the shaker?  While these examples sound incredulous, that is what we often appear to do as children of God when we become so confident in the gifts that he gave us in the first place and start to question his leading or guidance. Or worse still we attribute the successes that he gives us to our own abilities. We must be careful not to become victims of the gifts at the expense of the anger of the giver.  Acknowledge your source, reverence him and be willing to take on instructions that may not make sense to you as long as it is guided by the one who know your end from the beginning. Walking with God is more important that thinking we know the path ahead.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are the omnipotent and omniscient God. Thank you because you have mercy on whom you will have mercy. Please Lord in your mercy, please lead me and use me for your glory and teach me to remain humble and obedient through the process in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
