Relationship litmus test
“And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord above all that were before him. And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.” 1 Kings 16:30-31 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1ki.16.30-31.kjv
Watch out for your relationships. After the kingdom of Isreal was taken from Solomon’s son, it was a downward spiral in Isreal with each king progressively moving away from God and doing evil in the sight of God. However, today’s Bible reading emphasizes the case of Ahab who not only did evil in the sight of God but also took Jezebel as wife and went after Baal. Jezebel was even worse than her husband and often fueled some of his bad behaviors. Understandably, the Bible says that “two are are better than one” but it has to be the right companion because the Bible also goes on to tell us of the foolishness of the blind leading the blind. If your relationships don’t get you closer to God or even lead you further away by justifying acts of disobedience then you are in the wrong place. Remember that the Bible tells us that the companion of fools will be destroyed. Take stock of your relationships today.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your love and constant patience. I come before you today in humility and repentance for any acts of disobedience. Please Lord, forgive me and open my eyes to see every wrong relationships fueling my disobedience so that I can live aright in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
