Remember His Mercies
”And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi:“ Exodus 17:13-15 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/exo.17.13-15.kjv

Often, we Christians are guilty of short-term memory loss when it comes to the deliverances that God has wrought for us. As soon as we hit the next obstacle we almost seem to forget how valiantly God came through for us in time past. In today’s Bible reading, God had come through for the Israelites on their journey to the promised land yet again. The Amalekites came to fight with them and God miraculously granted victory to Israel. He however asked Moses to write it down as a memorial for a constant reminder first of the victory that God delivered and the promise that he will utterly destroy the Amalekites. This is instructive because in the early part of the chapter, when Israelites got to a place where there was no water and they were thirsty they immediately started murmuring against Moses and God, forgetting all that God had done already to get them to that point. So many of us are guilty of these behaviors today. So, do you remember the times that God came through for you in even worse situations? He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. If we remain in his will he is able to do much more than he had done in the past. Keep your focus on God, obey his specific instructions and watch him come through for you. Always remember the victories that he has won and the promises of a hope and future.
