Response to Rebuke

“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me. Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.” Psalm 51:1-3, 10-11, 16-17 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/psa.51.1-17.kjv

Response to Rebuke

What is your response to kingdom chastisement. Sometimes, we wander out of God’s will but in his loving kindness he sends his word to us to correct us. What we do in those cases matter to whether we are able to retrace back to his will or fall of the cliff of a reprobate mind. In the Bible reading today, we see David’s response to the report of how God was displeased with him as a direct consequence of the misdeeds concerning Bathsheba. We saw that he took responsibility and came with a broken and contrite heart back to his source and sustainer because he understood clearly the implications of a broken relationship with one who had orchestrated his life and kingship to that point.  It was a cry of mercy not one of gainsaying. He recognized that God’s sacrifice is a contrite heart and knew the consequences of doing otherwise like the Bible says that "God gives those who refuse to retain him in their knowledge to a reprobate mind." So Question for you today is: When you look back on your journey and walk with God in the last days, weeks, months, have you responded to his rebuke with a contrite heart seeking mercy or do you rationalize your actions before the one who is able to see the true intents of your heart? Why don’t you borrow a leaf from David today and hurry back into the protective hands of God where security and victory is guaranteed always.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for sending your words to me always. Thank you for your corrections through the word, the impressions of the Holy Spirit and through your messengers. Please help me Lord, have mercy on me. Don’t let me wander off because of pride. Please steer me back to you always because in you is all that I need for life and thriving 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
