Service precedes Leadership

“And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.” Mark 9:33-35 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/mrk.9.33-35.kjv

Service precedes Leadership

A reverse order to the top. God constantly shows us that his ways are not our ways. An example is seen in today’s Bible reading. In response to a debate by his disciples within themselves as to who would be the greatest amongst them, Jesus gives an unconventional recipe. He offers service as the pathway to leadership. According to Jesus, he who must be the first must be a servant of all. In the place of service comes lifting. Jesus is the perfect example of this when he gave his life on the cross for us and then the Bible recorded that God gave him a name above every other name that at his name, every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.  When God offers you an opportunity of service, consider it a privilege because his principles remain the same. He is indeed a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Remember the Bible says to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and in due time he will lift you up.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your faithfulness always. Thank you because you hold the cattle on the thousand hills. Please Lord, help me to know your ways more, so that I can walk in them and work with you into my glory in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
