Slipping away is dangerous

“And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him. And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.” Judges 10:6-7 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jdg.10.6-7.kjv

Slipping away is dangerous

The Bible warns of what is called a reprobate mind. According to the scripture, a person is given over to a reprobate mind to do the things that are inconvenient because they have chosen not to retain God in their knowledge. It is a dangerous slope to consistently drift away from the source of your strength, your protector and refuge. It is even worse when your most important ally is now the one angry with you.  Such was the case of the Israelites in today’s Bible reading where they had gone after all the various gods of their neighbors and no longer had time for the Almighty God. Well, since the spiritual controls the physical, God handed them over to the people of the gods that they now served to oppress them. This is a significant note of warning for us as Christians.  We must be careful of being lured away from our love for God by ephemeral things that have now become demigods to us. We do not want to be given over to the enemy by our protector. While it may look great in the beginning, the Bible warns of the destruction that is often at the end of ways that seem right to our human understanding. Prioritize God and prioritize life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are the wonderful redeemer, our source and essence. Please Lord, open my eyes to see any way in which I have prioritized something else over my love for you. Help me to retrace my steps back into the center of your will in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
