Surrender to Him totally

”And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; And hearken unto Israel your father. Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: Thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; Thy father's children shall bow down before thee. Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel.“ Genesis 49:1-2, 8, 16 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/gen.49.1-16.kjv

Surrender to Him totally

The Bible tells us that at the last trumpet and within the twinkling of an eye we will all be changed and the dead will arise. The next thing then is judgement. Hence the Bible admonishes us in the 2 Corinthians 5 to aim to please God while we are alive because we will all stand before the judgement throne of God to receive the rewards of our acts while in the body. The Bible reading today provides some sort of sneak peek into what that might look like. Jacob was about to die and was making pronouncements on his sons and into their future.  There were various types of rewards such as pronouncement of evil on some like Reuben, Simeon, Levi and pleasant pronouncements on others. What comes across as intriguing in this reading is that some of those that were blessed by him were never mentioned much in the Bible before then, other than reference to them in the company of their brothers or in the list of the children yet they received blessings which suggests that their secret acts of consistency and rightful living paid off even when they may not have been previously announced.  Again another lesson is of those who committed offences in the past such as Reuben who had secretly slept with his father’s concubine or Simeon and Levi who rationalized their acts of anger despite the pain that it caused their father got pronouncement of evil at the end. So as we thing about our sojourn on earth and the judgement throne of God, remember that our choices daily have implications for the future.  Even if you may have done wrong in the past, rather than continue in secret sin or rationalize your acts, why don’t seek God’s forgiveness today. God is slow to anger and sometimes the things that we thing we escaped or outsmarted him with may only be building up interest. Go to him in full surrender today so that your eternal life will be one of pleasure and not of agony when the trumpet sounds or we transit to glory.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you because you are a merciful God. Thank you because your mercies endure forever and speaks over judgement. Please Lord, I ask for your mercies over every error of the past and seek your grace to work before you holy so that you can say to me Welldone on the judgement day in Jesus name 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. ‎
