Take the High Road with God

“After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Genesis 15:1 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.15.1.kjv

Take the High Road with God

In the face of gifts from the King of Sodom and Gomorrah after rescuing Lot and the rest of the kingdom, Abraham chose instead to go with God turning down the gifts. He did not want the king to say he made Abraham rich because he knew his true source. And then God arose like how the praise singers in a party call out your praises to the point where you start to shower them with money (even up to what you did not plan to spend). Abraham made God proud and then God came to him to stamp the promise. He confirmed to Abraham that He is his shield (protection from every dart) and his reward (blessings on every side). Hence, God was affirming that He was everything to Abraham. Note however that Abraham still had no child of his own but choosing to hype God in the affairs that he had control over then opened doors of clarity in the ones that he was unsure of. He thought that his servant will be his heir but God clarified that not only will he have his own biological child but his ‘seed’ will be so great like the stars in the sky. O what a tremendous blessing. The question today is: In the choices that we are making, in the things in our sphere of control, are we choosing God? Are we choosing to wait on the blessing of God over worldly gifts and promotion? If yes, then trust that He will indeed come through on those topics that are your innermost pains and indeed be your shield and reward... Halleluyah!! So before you sing “Abraham’s blessings are mine......”, check that you are making the choices that qualify you for them. Prayer Dear God, please give me the boldness to make the right choices daily that will bring you pleasure through your Holyspirit. Give me the spirit of discernment so that I don’t fail in my test of total depencence on you 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
