Temporary discomfort for exceeding greatness

“And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.” Genesis 37:18-20 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.37.18-20.kjv

Temporary discomfort for exceeding greatness

Temporary discomfort as preservation from evil…… The hatred that Joseph’s brothers had for him was so deep rooted that they were calling for blood. They wanted to crush him permanently so that his dreams will not manifest. He was a current and future threat to them. His father loved him so much that in the present they believe that all the affection was channeled to him. And then he came with these dreams that suggested that he would rule over them in future. This was totally unacceptable to them. “The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.”Psalm 37:32-33. The temporary outcome of the encounter in today’s Bible reading was that Joseph was sold off into Egypt. The brothers thought that they had won. Joseph was to experience discomfort for some time to come but it was all working out to build character and prepare him for the ultimate breakthrough and fulfillment of destiny while his brothers had forgotten about him. Sometimes we go through some challenges that make the blood-thirsty enemy forget about you for some time thinking they have won but often it is a protection. God is supreme and he could have granted you victory even in the temporary battles but often he realizes that there is a grooming required because you may be but ‘a little boy compared to the giants’ spiritually. So he keeps you away grooming and preparing you for the ultimate comeback. Sounds like the script of an action movie? Well, there are examples beyond Joseph. The trainings that David got from the discomfort of handling sheep in the wilderness fighting lions and bears prepared him for uncommon victory against a giant that would have crushed an untrained young boy. What are you going through now that does not seem to line up with the glorious vision you have. If God is in it, then rest assured that it is part of the grooming for the glory. Halleluyah.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to be assured by the shadow of your wings. The assurance of your presence that confirms that ‘my passing through’ is for the ultimate glory 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
