The evidence of the Knowledge
“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.” 1 John 2:3-4, 28 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/1jn.2.3-4,28.kjv
The evidence of the knowing is in the doing... Often we can relate to a parent that is so loved and respected by the child and whose ways the child knows to the point that even when such a parent is not nearby, their words ring in the head of the child. As such the child, even as a grown adult would not do certain things or retreat quickly if on the wrong path when they remember the words of the parents.... There was a phrase that was very common some years back... “What would Jesus do? - WWJD”.... it was a reminder for children of God to ask themselves when they respond to situations if it’s the way that such would have been handled by God. The evidence of knowing God is keeping his commandments and like the Bible verse says today... when we keep his abide in him... we will not be ashamed at his coming... Reminds me of universities in Nigeria many years ago where due to the absence of phones, parents could not tell thier children in advance when they came visiting. Some children upon citing their parents in school unexpectedly, run off and quickly transform - because they were not meeting their expectations - often with regards to decency. Like Adam and Eve who hid from their regular garden walk buddy because they realized they were naked... Let’s examine ourselves today. Are we keeping his commandments?
Prayer: Dear God.... Forgive me of any past acts of disobedience. Help me to keep your commandments that I may reflect your glory at all times 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
