When scientific equations are written, they often have limit beyond which they may not hold true or for which some additional modifications need to be made. Such was the case referred to in the Bible reading today where Isreal was chastised for believing in the strength of the Egyptians’ horses and the multitude. God reminds them that the Egyptians are still men no matter how many and their horses flesh and not spirit. They can only help anyone to the limit of their strength and existence.  Hence, the helper and the helped are limited by the ability and existence of the helper. This points to the need to look instead towards the sovereign God who is able to kill the flesh and spirit as well. Is your confidence in flesh or in the created things? Think twice. The one who hold the entire universe in balance is the only limitless source of help. He is an ever present help in times of need. Choose wisely.
