The person in who God delights
“He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.” Psalm 18:19-22 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/psa.18.19-22.kjv
In the book of Esther, the king asked his Hamaan “What shall be done unto the man whom the king delighteth to honour?”..... Thinking it was him, he laid out all sorts of royal honor to be done to such and the king obliged, although it was meant for Modecai. But the key message was that the king was willing to do all sorts because he was delighted in the person. We know the story of the King who was willing to give up to half of his kingdom to the queen’s daughter who delighted him with her dancing. He even gave the head of John the Baptist to her on her request because in his delight he had promised to give her whatever she asks for. In today’s reading and in the rest of the chapter, David narrates all the great deliverances that God gave him over his enemies because he delighted in Him. David gives us a glimpse into some of the criteria to please God. He talks about righteousness, consistent focus on the instructions and statutes of God. He kept his way along God’s path because he knew His will so he was able to please him. Do you know God’s will? Are you pleasing him? The new day provides new opportunities to either continue to please God or to return to pleasing Him if you already took a detour. And His deliverance will show up in all aspects of our lives... Halleluyah!!!!
