Times and seasons
“And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.” 1 Chronicles 20:1 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1ch.20.1.kjv

There is a season for everything and a time for every purpose under the sun. This is what the Bible tells us to caution us about how we allot our time and prioritize the things that we spend our time on. In the Bible reading today, we were told that it was the time when the kings typically go war but David rested. He ‘probably’ had a good reason. He had been in a run of battle victories to that point and probably needed to rest. However, the timing was off as it was a time when kings go to war. In the version of the narration in this Bible chapter, we are told of the victories that the subordinates had which might make one think that it wasn’t bad afterall. However, his indiscretion as a result of resting when he should be at war almost cost him his relationship with his ally and sustainer - The Lord almighty. How do you judge your decisions? There is a way that seems right to a man but at the end is destruction. Recall that Samson got up to go as usual but he did not realize that the Spirit of God had departed. Be careful with what you prioritize and how you measure it’s effectiveness.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for being my help and sustainer for all ages. Please Lord, help me. Let me not stray out of your will. Let me not become too confident in my self and to rest early. So help me God 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
