Understand your assignment
“And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” Jonah 3:1-3, 10 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jon.3.1-10.kjv

Do you understand the true nature of your kingdom assignment? Sometimes, when we misjudge the assignment based on the small part that we are privy to, we typically second guess ourselves or the nature of the assignment. In today’s Bible reading, God was so passionate about Nineveh that he gave the instruction to Jonah a second time to go and deliver the message of impending destruction to Nineveh. Jonah eventually went this time having experienced the course-redirect in the belly of the fish. What Jonah did not count on was the fact that the people would take his message seriously and repent from their ways. Because they did this, God looked upon them with mercy and changed his mind about destroying the land. Jonah was not really on a woe-announcing assignment only. At the core of his assignment was the ministry of reconciliation, the opportunity for the erring land to retrace their steps in the face of warning. And he almost missed that opportunity to be part of that great reconciliation story because he was running away from a hard-hearted people. God’s ways are not our ways and that is why it is critical that we yield in complete obedience to his leading because we often only see up ahead to the next curve, but he sees the whole outlay of the path and knows what is at the end of the twists and turns. Complete obedience is key.
