Victory can become a distraction

“And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them. And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath–pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.” 1 Chronicles 5:25-26 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1ch.5.25-26.kjv

Victory can become a distraction

Be weary of the ‘perks’ of new offices, positions and victories. In the Bible reading today, the tribes of Reuben, Gad and half tribe of Manasseh had enjoyed previous victories against their enemies because God took over the battles. However, when they settled in and got comfortable, they went after the gods of the people of the land that God destroyed before them. There is a reason why God destroyed those ahead of them and they were to be God’s representative pointing the glory to him. However, they got tainted by associating with the ‘ideals’ of the previous inhabitants.  We are told that it ended badly as they were taken away into captivity by the kings that God stirred up against them. As God gives you new victories, it is important that there is a marked difference as a result of your occupancy of the new territory as a child of God. Don’t get carried away, as it could be disastrous.

Prayer: Dear God thank you for your love and guidance always. Please teach me and lead me always; and grant unto me a willing heart to follow your instructions so that I can thrive in the land that you give to me 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
