Wants vs needs

“And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.” Genesis 29:20 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/gen.29.20.kjv

Wants vs needs

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt 6:21). The things that we focus on are very important in our perception to life and the events around us. In the Bible reading today, seven years appeared to Jacob like a few days because he loved Rachel so much. Such passion is beautiful if channeled towards the right things. The question that comes to mind today is: What is your focus on? Are you focused on your wants or your needs? The years may be ticking away and opportunities flying by and we can choose not to recognize them if our focus is on the wrong things or on the ‘nice to have’? Jacob ended up working for 14 years for Rachel… But I ponder.. Could Leah have been the need? Did she meet all the specs that Jacob’s parent gave him when he was sent to go get a wife in Laban’s house? Well… I guess it’s worth thinking about. Leah gave Jacob so many sons but he was more concerned with Rachel at the time who was barren. Recently I realized that if God gives you your needs while you are focused on your wants, you will despise the needs… May we not spend time wandering about when what we need is already with us in Jesus name.

Prayer: Dear God, please give me the spirit of discernment, let me not waste time when you are asking me to move on🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
