Watch your utterances especially in moments of anger

“And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel. Howbeit we may not give them wives of our daughters: for the children of Israel have sworn, saying, Cursed be he that giveth a wife to Benjamin.” Judges 21:17-18 KJV https://www.bible.com/1/jdg.21.17-18.kjv

Watch your utterances especially in moments of anger

Be cautious especially in the midst of challenges / frustration / anger. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6. The Bible also warns about sinning when angry. In the Bible reading today after the ‘dust’ of the war between the tribes of Isreal and Benjamin had settled, it dawned on them that the tribe of Benjamin was going to perish as there were only a few men left that escaped into the cave when the Isrealites chased them down. However; they could not help them directly as they had made a vow that anyone of Isreal that married a Benjamite will die. Now they had to look for those who were not there at the time of that covenant to help out the Benjamites. The moral of this is that we need to be careful with our utterances and the vows or curses that are issued in times of impaired judgement. There are towns and generations that are suffering under the yoke of pronouncements of many years ago. In some cases, homes have been wiped out if not for the intervention of God and series of deliverances to break the yoke of such utterances. As parents or people in authority, it is important that you don’t make wrong pronouncements in the face of provocation. Receive grace from the Holy Spirit to caution yourself that your utterances and actions may always be seasoned with Grace. Lastly, there was a fundamental problem in all of this as seen in the chapter today. There was no king in Isreal at the time and everyone did whatever they thought was right including jungle justice. Leadership is key especially in the household of faith.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your words of caution. I receive the grace for self-control through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
